What Hydro-Jetting Does That Snaking Doesn't

Snaking punches through or hooks a blockage and pulls it out. Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water — typically 3,000–4,000 PSI for residential lines — to scour the full circumference of the pipe interior. A powered nozzle pulls itself through the line while cutting through blockages and stripping scale, grease, and debris off the pipe walls. What comes out is a clean pipe, not a punched hole through a clog.

That distinction determines recurrence. Snaked drains often re-block within months because residual buildup on the pipe walls catches new debris. Hydro-jetted lines stay clear longer because there's nothing on the walls for new material to adhere to.

Las Vegas compounds the issue. Hard water leaves mineral scale on drain pipe interiors over years, and grease adheres to scale more readily than to clean pipe. In older clay or cast iron sewer lines — common in Las Vegas neighborhoods built before 1990 — scale buildup is decades deep. Root fragments that snaking breaks apart but doesn't fully remove also create residual debris that accelerates re-blockage.

How We Do It

We camera-inspect before jetting when the line history is unknown. Hydro-jetting an already-compromised pipe — collapsed section, severely offset joints, thin-walled cast iron near failure — can cause damage. When the line is confirmed serviceable, we jet it and re-camera afterward to confirm the result. You see before and after.

  • High-pressure hydro-jetting for main and secondary drain lines
  • Pre-jetting camera inspection when line condition is unknown
  • Post-jetting camera confirmation available
  • Root fragment clearing combined with scale and grease removal
  • Flat-rate pricing upfront
  • Same-day service across Las Vegas

Signs Your Drain Needs Hydro-Jetting

  • The drain has been snaked and blocked again within 12 months. Recurring blockages after snaking mean the root cause — scale, grease coating, root fragments — wasn't cleared.
  • Multiple fixtures are backing up simultaneously. When the main line is significantly blocked or coated, backups appear across multiple drain points at once.
  • A camera inspection showed scale or grease coating on the pipe walls. Buildup on the walls rather than a discrete blockage responds to jetting, not snaking.
  • The drain runs slow even after snaking. If flow improved temporarily but never fully restored, debris on the pipe walls is restricting the diameter.
  • Root intrusion was cleared but the line re-blocked quickly. Root fragments left behind after snaking provide an anchor for new debris. Jetting clears the fragments too.

Hydro-Jetting Questions for Las Vegas Homeowners

Is hydro-jetting safe for older pipes?

For sound pipe, yes. High-pressure water is less likely to damage a pipe in good condition than a mechanical snake cable. For pipes that are already compromised — collapsed sections, severely offset joints, very thin cast iron — jetting can cause damage. That's why we camera-inspect first when the line's condition is unknown.

What's the difference between snaking and hydro-jetting?

Snaking creates an opening through a blockage. Hydro-jetting removes the blockage and the buildup on the pipe walls surrounding it. Snaking is faster and less expensive for a first-time, isolated clog. Hydro-jetting is the better call for recurring blockages or when a camera inspection shows significant scale or grease.

How long does hydro-jetting take?

Typically 1–2 hours for a main line, depending on line length and buildup severity. Adding a pre-job camera inspection adds 30–45 minutes.

Will hydro-jetting remove tree roots?

It clears root intrusion and root fragments that are present in the pipe. It doesn't prevent roots from re-entering through the same crack or joint. If root intrusion is the recurring cause, the long-term solution is repairing or lining the entry point. We'll tell you what we find and what the options are.

How often should drains be hydro-jetted?

There's no universal schedule. For homes with a history of grease buildup or root intrusion, every 2–3 years is a reasonable interval. We give a recommendation based on what we observe.

Do you hydro-jet kitchen lines as well as main sewer lines?

Yes. Kitchen drain lines in homes with heavy cooking accumulate grease that snaking doesn't fully clear. Hydro-jetting the kitchen line is effective for persistent slow drains that don't respond to other methods.

How much does hydro-jetting cost in Las Vegas?

We provide flat-rate pricing upfront after assessing the line. Call (725) 290-3207 to schedule.

A drain that's been snaked and blocked again is telling you something.
